Mashing activates the enzymes within the malted barley to convert the starch into sugar. It involves steeping of the grains in water that is also called liquor. The process of mashing can take between one to two hours and is done in a specialized pot called a mash tun.

This tri-clad induction ready mash tun features a stainless steel body with a beautiful brushed finish. It has the capacity to hold a total volume of 10 gallons of mash. It also features bolted on easy-to-grasp handles to easily move the pot within the work area.

The most important feature of this mash tun is its 5-mm tri-clad bottom, which makes it induction ready. This means that you can heat it up on the stove. The pot also features a thicker bottom which prevents the mash from getting scorched and affecting the flavour of the entire wort. The inner walls are also thicker for better heat dispersal.

It also comes with NPT couplers so that home brewers can add different accessories such as thermometers or thermowells. The package also comes with a ball valve for easy and convenient drainage of the wort. To separate the grains from the wort, a bazooka screen or trub trap may be installed.
