This Mash King Tun is a supersized 11.7 Gallon/43 Litre beast! The 17% volume increase over traditional coolers ensures you can brew what you want when you want it. Specially built and designed to handle the largest grain bills you can throw at it. Brewing a 1.09 original gravity brew? The Mash King Tun will easily handle it.

This Tun comes with The Trub Trap. Designed to fit perfectly and secure, not float around the bottom like other models. What makes this false bottom special is that it has custom sizing coupled with the silicone gasket, ensuring the tightest fit possible without the worry of scratching up the interior of your cooler. In addition, the false bottom is made out of strong 304 Stainless Steel and the legs allow it to sit 2 3/4" off the bottom of your cooler, and the handle makes removal a breeze.

The Mash King's inside dimensions are 19" x 13 1/4". With its outside dimensions(with lid) being 21 3/8" x 15 1/2".

Pros:- Large mash tun capable of doing 10 batch spargers- Holds temperature- False bottom & hardware are excellentCons:- Since it is large the lid can be a bit tricky to get on sometimesHighly recommended!

Ok Product But Concerned

I've used the vessel 4 times since purchasing. It works fine in terms of holding temperature, the false bottom adequately filters with little to no grain slipping through. However, a concern arose on my last brew when the vessel began making an odd creaking noise during the initial duration of the mash period. later, after emptying the vessel, I noticed the interior wall had buckled with heat as if it had de-laminated from it's original form. I'm also seeing pressure indentations on the bottom surface where the legs of the false bottom sit.we'll see over the next number of brew days how well this thing holds up... I'll be mighty pissed if this thing pops a hole with such minimal usage.

Tricky To Manage Batch Sparging

Be mindful that the volume in the area below the trap is 6.6 litres approximately. This will be discounted from your sparge water volume. You will end up rinsing the grains with less water...after collecting the 1st wort, the bottom area will be almost empty, so your sparge water will go straight to the bottom...remember, you are already starting to sparge with less water (the volume you discounted from your sparge volume because of the false bottom) and most of your sparge will go to the bottom, limiting the rinsing of the grains a lot.It a little messy to use...decided to by a bazooka screen and not use the false bottom next time to compare. It's disappointing as I am quite sure that there was a big price for the false bottom compare to a bazooka screen of 8 dollars in Ali Express.

Cooler works awesome. No grains get by the side at all the fit is perfectly flush against the wall with the silicone gasket.For the other user with the issues I measured the bottom and the holes are 3/32 on 5/32 centers. Means it is the same configuration as all the big high end players like SS Bretech and Nor Cal. If you are getting grain through this you need to lower your pump speed or adjust the dust out of your crush. The only finer holes out there for a mash tun are brew in a bags, I would rather have a stainless strainer then fabric.CheersPreston

Immense Disappointment

I just tried this product for the first time today and it was a total bust. The false bottom did not serve to strain the grain at all, no matter how much I vorlaufed. I made sure that the FB had a snug fit, before adding my strike water (To OBK's credit, it did fit snug). However, it did not seem to matter. 1/5.

homebrewer

This product works great at holding heat... however since the day i owned it it leaked where the valves connects. Doesn't affect me too much when grain is in during the mash as that holds the water too. still annoying.

Bubble In Walls

Bought in March 2020I currently have two bubbles forming inside the mash tun opposite each other. This is now making it difficult to place the false bottom inside the mash tun.Hot water has never been beyond mashing requirements 167F, to compensate for cooler grain and mixing time to achieve 154F mashI really liked the false bottom and I did read the reviews and was cautious about water temp.The mash tun worked well for the first couple of brews before the bubbles started, now the false bottom sits on a angle.and will not fit into place.Overall I am disappointed with the longevity of the product and do not recommend.

Lamination Issue/False Bottom Doesn't Hold Up

I'm having the same issue with the bubble forming on the inside. I can still use it, but if gets any worse the false bottom won't be able to be inserted/removed. The handle and feet on the false bottom lasted about 3 brews before I had to get them reattached by a local welder - the factory spot welds simply don't hold up. Make sure you scoop out as much wet grain as possible before removing it for cleaning to make it easier on the handle. Aside from those issues it does its job.

Great Tun

As far as cooler mash tuns goes this one is really good. We have done 20+ batches in this thing and haven't had any issues yet. It holds heat well and the false bottom is great. No stuck sparges yet. It does take a little work to figure out your water to grist ratio since the false bottom keeps about a gallon of water away from the grain. If you use brewing software like Beer Tools Pro or Beersmith you can factor this in and it makes batch to batch consistency much easier. The area where the valve is placed on the bottom is a little thin but this is to be expected with a cooler. It doesnâ€™t leak so no complaints. This thing is also huge. Large enough for any 5 gallon batch well into the 1.100 gravity range. Also works for 10 gallon batches if the gravity is reasonable. Over great entry level setup for a great price.

Great Mlt

This is as good as it gets for a picnic cooler style mash tun. Some of the concerns I have read are quite ridiculous, of course you will have to account for dead space in your HLT and MLT, you should build that into your brewing software calculations. Of course some particles will get through, this isn't a recirculating vessel, its a cooler with a big filter. I have brewed about 25 batches with mine and have zero complaints whatsoever. Is it a 500$ SS mash tun with a chugger pump ? No. Is it a high quality MLT with good fittings and a false bottom as good as any? Yes .

What A Change!!

Went from two bucket system to this beauty. First brew was seamless and loved the filter bottom. So pleased I ordered another to do simultaneous brews - only adds another hour or so to brewing day and you get two beers or can use it to make a Wee Heavy full batch.
