Stainless Steel False Bottom - 9"

This 10" stainless steel false bottom is designed to fit brew pots of any sizes that have diameters larger than 9 inches. In addition it is able to fit 5 gallon Rubbermaid coolers. This particular false bottom features a dome design so that the liquid can be drawn from all sides. To make it easier to draw the liquid, it also comes with a stainless steel elbow hose fitting at the center. Made from 304 stainless steel construction, the false bottom is heavy and durable enough to stay in place at the bottom without it floating on top so the liquid wort is effectively separated from the grain bills. This makes cleanup convenient because the false bottom can easily be removed without the use of tools.

False bottoms are used to separate the grains from the wort. They are often installed at the bottom of the lauter tun to allow the wort to drain while leaving the grain behind. The basic construction of a false bottom is that it features a lot of tiny holes that are punched or drilled through a stainless steel screen.

During the sparging process, the clear liquid wort passes through the false bottom, leaving behind the grain. This makes it easier for home brewers to collect the wort after the boiling process.
