US Ahtanum Hop Pellets (1 lb)
Ahtanum (1 lb)
There are different types of hops used in flavouring beer that range in a variety of bitterness. The US Ahtanum hop pellets are derived from the Ahtanum area near Yakima in Washington State where the first ever hop farm in the USA was established by Charles Carpenter in 1896. This particular hop was developed by Select Botanicals Group by means of open pollination.

It was bred as an aroma-type cultivar that has dual purpose in beer-making. It provides a floral and citrusy smell as well as moderate bitterness to the end product. It also gives off a hint of earthy and woodsy notes to the entire brew. It contains 5.7% to 6.3% Alpha Acids and 5% to 6% Bet Acids. It has high cohumulone ratio at 30% to 35% which is responsible for the moderate bittering of beer.

It also contains between 0.8 to 1.2ml/100g total oil which is also responsible for the hop flavour in beer. For those who cannot get their hands on the US Ahtanum hop pellets, it can be substituted for Cascade and Amarillo hops. It is great for making different American-style ales, pale ale, lager and IPA.

Available in 1 lb packages, the US Ahtanum hop pellets is a great ingredient to use in your beer brewing. Store unused hop pellets in a cool, dark and dry place so that the acids and oils do not disintegrate fast and eventually affect the quality of beer that you are making.
