Black IPA (5.25 US Gal) Extract Kit with Specialty Grains

Black IPA --- This style of dark hoppy brew takes all the great qualities of a citrusy and pine flavoured India Pale Ale and adds layers of roast, chocolate, and caramel. A great hybrid of two styles. High bitterness from both the hops and the roasted grains. This one finishes dry and refreshing.

Good kit when tweaked February 5, 2018
Reviewer: Colin from Victoria, BC
Brewed this as my third full boil batch. Although I'm happy with the result, I did have to add some additional LME to make it up to the recommended OG. It came with a full pound of dextrose, maybe I was supposed to add this to the boil, rather than save it for priming? The instructions are not the greatest, in my opinion. Dry hopped in secondary with 1 oz of bravo hops, final result was a well rounded hoppy / malty 5.5% alcohol black IPA.

Solid. Right on Style. April 2, 2015
Reviewer: Ryan from London, ON Canada
This is true to the style, and I have had a LOT of black IPAs. Hops are just right. I'm guessing people that got light on the hop flavour either did partial boil or used a hop sock, I added directly as you should with pellets, and used no dextrose in the brew. Final Abv came out around 5.9-6%.
