Electrical Brewing Hardware

Is it possible to mount an electric heating element to a brew pot? The answer is yes! So instead of boiling the liquid over a gas burner, you can use heating elements as the source of heat. Electrical heating elements are typically used in electric hot water tanks, but they can be easily installed in a boil kettle or pot. They can also be used in the hot liquor tank to provide heat to the sparge water.

When choosing a heating element for a brew pot, it is crucial to choose the correct sizing. A heating element should be large enough to be able to provide heat and warm up the water quickly. It should also be able to maintain a good boil needed during the boiling process. (more info below)

When installing a heating element to a brew pot, it is important to do it in a safe and secure manner. The kettle should be electrically grounded for safety purposes. This is also to ensure that any stray current will find its way to the ground instead of electrocuting the brewer. When installing the electric heating element, make sure that the wiring is protected as much as possible as brew kettles are often moved around, and if the wires are left exposed, they may inadvertently get pulled or caught on something.
