FermZilla Conical Fermenter - 7.1 Gallon (27L)

Alternative Views:

The FermZilla is the successor to the Fermentasaurus and is now available for the first time in Canada.

This unique conical PET fermenter can be fully pressurizable up to 2.4 Bar working pressure. This conical is only possible thanks to the use of highly specialized PET grade plastic and the use of a new type of PET injection/blow moulding machine.

These FermZilla fermenters come with many of the requested Fermentasaurus improvements.

Some of these improvements are the following:
  • Larger Dump Valve - New 3" butterfly dump valve is more resistant to clogs from larger amounts of trub
  • Larger Opening - 4 3/4" Top port allows for easier cleaning and access to the interior of the vessel
  • Less Headspace - More appropriately sized for traditional 5 gallon batches. This new size makes purging the headspace of oxygen far easier and more effective.

Using crystal clear plastic allows homebrewers full view of the vessel and the ability to see the yeast in action. Easily dump yeast from the conical and clarify beer without needing to rack into another vessel. Cut down on unnecessary additional equipment and the risk of infection and oxidation by consolidating the fermenting, clarifying, and carbonation to one vessel.

One key feature of the FermZilla is that it gives homebrewers the ability to naturally carbonate their beer directly in the FermZilla allowing for direct dispensing. Thus eliminating the need for additional carbonation in a keg or in bottles.

All FermZilla units come with an Adjustable Easy Opening Tool. This tool is perfect for tightening and opening the lid, collection container, or anything else that the tool fits.

Please Note: Prior to fermenting under pressure you will need the FermZilla Conical Fermenter Pressure Kit.

1 of 5 Too much hassle and not sturdy enough May 18, 2020
Reviewer: Jordan Quatrale
First off, after about 6 brews the stand's handle gave out completely causing 5 gallons of NEIPA to tumble down the stairs, now having to buy a few parts to fix it.
Also cleaning this thing is too much time compared to all my other fermenters, everything needs to be taken out and washed and re-lubed to ensure it's properly cleaned (If you don't you get bacteria growth in the dump valve assembly as using a PBW soak and rinse won't get into all the crevices between the dump valve and assembly). Besides the stands handle
s poor construction construction,  I feel like all problems could be solved without having the useless dump valve.

If this didn't have a useless dumb valve and a better stand/handle or carrying straps, i'd give 5 stars.

2 of 5 Produces amazing beer but leaks February 22, 2020
Reviewer: Mike from Airdrie
Brewed three batches in mine before finally posting a review. It's in the garbage now. Leaks - constantly had to add CO2 in order to pressure ferment properly. It would ramp up to about 11PSI on it's own while fermenting then drop down to zero after about a day. No amount of keg lube or changing the seals helped, it just leaked pressure. Top that off with even with keg lube getting it disassembled to clean was a nightmare. That 'easy opening tool' was anything but and ended up cracked the collection container while trying to remove it. Don't waste your money - save it up and purchase a stainless steel conical if you're looking to pressure ferment.
