Hoppy Wheat Ale (5.25 US Gal) Extract Kit

A basic, light wheat ale with an emphasis on hops. Cascade brings the citrus and grapefruit flavour and combines it with the wheat ale flavours. A great refreshing summer ale and simple to brew.

5 of 5 Pleasantly harmless and session ready May 28, 2019
Reviewer: The Happy Brewer from Great White North(eastern Ontario)
Made this beer with DME Wheat at 6 lb with 2 oz Cascade pellets and subbed 1 oz Perle, did not have Hallertau on hand. Nice and light, hazy and medium blond color, first impression is harmless, easy drinking, smells slightly hoppy, but tastes dry. Finishes slightly bitter that does not linger, and then dries out. I used Muntons Ale Yeast. A good summer ale for these times. Guessing Hacker-Pschorr traditional weisse likeness (which I like).

2 of 5 Changed January 29, 2015
Reviewer: RD from Fredericton, NB
Not sure what happened, but OBK changed the recipe on this since last time I made it; I should have questioned 2 oz of Cascade and 1oz Hallertauer Tradition all added at 60 mins left in boil, with no other hop additions. End state is very bitter (and not good bitter) but not balanced by sweetness or aroma. After 2.5 years brewing OBK kits with utmost satisfaction, this one did not pan out. Interested in any other feedback.
