Test your brewing water with your hydrometer and subtract that from your SG readings. For instance, my hydrometer reads my water as being 1.001 at 60F, so I subtract 0.001 from all of my SG readings.
Readings should either be taken at 60F or converted to 60F (Beersmith has a tool which will do this for you).
I suspect these two things will rectify any accuracy issues you have with this hydrometer.
