OBK 6.5 Gallon Fermenting Bucket. This plastic bucket is food grade up to 180°F. Features printed volume graduation markings (1 to 5 gallons). Easy to carry and easy to clean. Buckets have long been a great option for fermenting beer or wine. However, it is necessary to be careful when cleaning the bucket to avoid scratching. Use super soft sponges or an old cotton t-shirt.

To prepare your bucket for fermenting, soak with Powdered Brewery Wash and hot water for about an hour. Give the PBW time, and let the chemical do the cleaning for you. The next step is pouring out the PBW, rinsing, then filling back up with room temperature water and approximately 2 oz of Star San, an acid based sanitizer which lowers the pH of the water. Let soak and sanitize for 5 minutes. Transfer the Star San/Water solution to another bucket or vessel for re-using and sanitizing other equipment later. Cover the bucket with the lid until ready to fill with your beer or wine.

(Optional #6.5 Stopper and Lid)

Bucket's good, lid's not... January 25, 2015

I like the bucket; it has a sturdy handle. But the lid was les then ideal. I has a lot of groves, nooks and crannies on the under side (exposed to the krausen). Also the pre-drilled whole had a lot of burrs.

So much easier than a glass carboy, gallon markings makes it easier. I'll be buying these from now on.
