I recreated this same set up but with OBK's 3pce ball valves and a male cam lock instead of the hose barb. Initial tests suggest it will work well for my purposes in terms of the recirculation design. Silicone hose can be added to the interior barb for mash recirculation without disturbing the grain bed (use enough so that it starts to coil a bit on the surface of your mash), otherwise leave as is for whirl pooling. If there was an alternative to the weldless coupler design, I think that'd be better. I wonder if a close nipple, with street elbow, washer and o-ring would provide more strength?
