There are different processes in brewing beer that affects the quality of the finished product. For instance, it is important to monitor the temperature of the beer to reduce the production of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) which provides a weird flavour to the beer. Monitoring the pH is also important because it increases the efficiency of the mash. The ideal pH of mash should be within 5.2 to 5.5 range. With the right pH, it improves the enzymatic activity which leads to better conversion of starch to sugar. It also improves the yeast health during the fermentation process and also inhibits the growth of other bacterial contaminants. On the other hand, the amount of carbon in the beer also adds to the defining texture of the beer. A carbonation tester is also another crucial tool that home brewers should choose.
