I've tried it all, pellets, whole cones, hop sacks, hop spiders, loose hops but the Hop Blocker has proven to be the best solution. I find it works very well but in order for it to function as designed you will need to make a few adjustments on brew day. My first brew day with it I did exactly what every other brewer would do, installed it and brewed away. This provided mixed results. Start be reading the instructions! My second brew day, after reading the instructions, provided much clearer wort and I used twice the hops albeit the process took a little longer. Post boil, I whirlpool while chilling, then allow the hop cone to rest prior to very slowly moving my wort into fermenters. The key is to slowly drain your kettle, go too fast and the Hop Blocker won't work as intended. I use a pump and throttle the flow so I'm not disturbing the cone. I get clearer wort than with a hop spider but it takes about 40 mins longer to drain my kettle.....but it works very well!
