A Modern Day Hoppy Ipa (Just Add More Hops Too)

This is an awesome WC-IPA kit! A good take on a modern hop-friendly IPA. I bought more hops and changed the recipe a little. I diluted the 9 lbs of LME to make 7 gallons in the fermentor giving me about 4.5% alcohol. 1 oz Columbus @ 60min, 3 oz Chinook hopstand @ 5 min and 190F, 3 oz Centennial hopstand @ 5 min and 190F with a calculated 48 IBU. 2 oz Centennial dryhop @ 7 days for aroma. I did this all without fully researching my hops - Chinook is known to be a little grassy/pungent so next time I will only use 2 oz Chinook. And I will try 6.5 gallons giving me about 4.8% alcohol and IBU of 47.

Excellent Beer At A Reasonable Price.

Out of all the beers I have brewed so far, this one is by far my favourite. If you like IPA's, then get this one.

Additional Hops Are Required!

Its good but without additional hops this is way too malt forward. It's very good but malty. I wouldn't even call it an IPA. Dry hop it a little and it shines. I went with two OZ of Mosaic for 4 days. WOW. I don't have a lot of experienced brewing but I'm well practiced drinking craft beer. Having an IPA fresh is amazing. I have brewed this twice and will brew it again. Its a blank canvas for creating an excellent IPA for your tastes.

Great Ipa And Hop Additions Friendly

Like others, I added a few more hops (Chinook and Columbus) and it turned out great! Rave reviews from my friends and family

Great Kit

This kit couldn't be easier to make, instructions are easy to follow. The seal on one of the hop packs was broken, but not sure if it came that way, or I did it, either way, no big deal, into a zip lock bag until I am ready to make it!
