Pilsen pure dry malt extract is the lightest colour of extracts. Most earlier brews were dark and cloudy and were top-fermented. Unfortunately, it produced disgustingly low-quality brews. In 1839, citizens from Pilsen decided to create their own brewery and used bottom-fermenting yeast that resulted in better flavour, clarity, and shelf-life.

Choosing the type of malt extract for your brew depends on your own needs and preferences, the Pilsen dry malt extract is great for creating light lagers, Belgian golden ales and Kolsch. It has an extremely light colour to create light to blonde beers but it can also be used as a base for just about any type of brews. The Pilsen DME is made from the Pilsen base malt and carapils. It is used to boost the gravity of all grain batches.

The Pilsen dry malt extract is often used in creating formulation styles like Oktoberfest, Viennas Doppelbock or other types of European continental style beers. It provides the best base for lager recipes with its flavours, aroma and colour extracted from grains.

Since it is in dry form, it can easily be measured for small applications. Having said this, you can create small trial batches of beer and never worry about throwing them away if you are not satisfied with how your brew turns out. Using the Pilsen dry malt extract can create light lagers and other types of beer brews. It is a versatile type of malt extract that makes it great for home brewers.
