This recipe kit creates a deep reddish/brown, moderately strong, and complex Belgian ale. The brew features rich, complex flavours from a malty body, with sweetness on the palate that finishes moderately dry. Complex malt and yeast esters produce slightly raisiny flavours, along with notes of dried fruit, clove, and a hint of burnt sugars. The balance leans toward the malt, with little to no hop flavour, and medium bitterness that doesn’t persist into the finish. A Real Beauty!

I did a lot of things wrong. I broke my hydrometer, so I couldn't take the FG. Primary was about 3.5 weeks, but at 14-15 degrees, so I couldn't avoid the warm alcohol taste. But, it's a malty, dry beauty! It reminds me a bit of red wine. I can't wait to make it again with totally different mistakes!

Thumbs Up

Brewed this one a few months ago. Very good, and it seems to get better with time. I used T-58 and found it was a little bland. I recommend using one of the liquid yeasts, but I suppose that's subjective.

Perfect Match For My New Pot

Looks to be a great recipe to brew up with my new 9 gallon brew pot from OBK. Can't wait to taste it.
