Intertap Auto-Close Spring

These work perfectly with Perlick 630SS Taps and the Stainless Steel Beer Shank - 6 1/8" (Recessed Shanks). Tension is just right, easy enough to pull but strong enough to close.

Works great. Had to really get it just right to get it tight. I don't have the faucet wrench but will be getting one. No more drips.

I still have no idea what a "RECESSED SHANK AND TAP" is (google it and you'll just end up back on this page), but these are cheap enough that I was willing to experiment. Results: it works perfectly on a Perlick 630 tap. It does NOT work on a Perlick 650 (flow control) tap. I tried trimming the spring as others suggested to get it to fit on the flow control tap, but once I'd cut off 3/4 of the spring with no luck, I gave up. There's just no room for a spring in a Perlick 650. On the Perlick 630, which it fits, it has a nice springy feel and firmly shuts off the tap when you let go. I wanted these springs to avoid cats/children draining my kegs when they bump the taps, and this does the trick. (On the Perlick 650, I just make sure to leave the flow valve all the way off when I'm done pouring, which is an even better guard against accidental pulls). I think OBK's item description could use some improvement (how about a list of all the taps you sell that this spring is compatible with?) but I won't hold that against the product. So, five stars.

I installed the spring on my new 2nd Gen tap and it worked flawlessly. For anyone having issues with the handle not springing back, try loosening the tap handle collar. If it is too tight against the tap body, it will prevent the tap handle from springing back. I recommend this item.

I've been using these on 4 Intertaps with outstanding results. Yes, they are hard to install. You have to compress them and try and screw the tap onto the shank without releasing tension. But, once you get a couple threads on, it is easy to finish. Recommended!

I just got two of these and as Alex stated, they are too long and strong to install properly. I managed to get the first one in to test and it was almost too hard to pull the tap. I do have a compatible shank as listed above with my Intertap faucet.

Bought this spring as a replacement for my current intertap gen2 setup on a recessed shank.The spring is 3/4 longer and a lot more sturdy then the older springs I have. It is almost impossible to mount the faucet and engage the nut of the shank to the threads of the faucet. There is way to much force.

I installed these on all 4 of my new intertaps about 6 months ago as an extra security to ensure taps never accidentally got bumped open spilling precious beer everywhere. When I installed them only 2 of the 4 worked right away, i ended up re positioning them a couple times and got them sort of working for the most part. After 6 months of use all 4 of them no longer do anything and it is basically like they are not even there as all taps can be left in the open position and won't spring back. I wouldn't spend the extra $3 on these again unless you want to remove your taps and preposition these constantly to get them to keep springing closed.
